Truck country, hail belt, working fleet
Fort Worth is one of the most truck-heavy major metros in the country — the working-class fleet here skews toward full-size pickups across Tarrant County. F-150s, Silverados, Rams, Tundras dominate. About 40% of our FW pickups are trucks or large SUVs versus a national average closer to 25%, and the older end of that mix (12-18 year-old trucks with 200k+ miles) is well represented.
Hail is the other dominant factor. DFW sits in the worst hail belt in the country; Fort Worth catches hail events most years and a major one (golf-ball or larger) about every 18 months. After every major hail event our pickup queue spikes — both insurance-totaled vehicles and uninsured hail damage where the repair quote exceeds market value.
What we pay across Fort Worth and Tarrant County
Fort Worth payouts on trucks and SUVs run above national medians because of body weight, cat content, and strong regional parts demand. F-150s and Silverados in working condition routinely clear $1,500-$2,500. Sedans run on par with national medians. Hail-titled vehicles take a 15-25% salvage discount but still pay real money.
We don't penalize Fort Worth cars for high mileage. The working-class fleet here regularly hits 200k+ before the next major repair, but a 200k-mile pickup with a working engine and intact cat still pays well. The drivetrain is usually still functional; the cat hasn't aged.
