Cash Auto Salvage (“we,” “us”) values your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you submit a junk-car offer request, what we do with it, and your rights under applicable privacy laws.
What we collect
When you request an offer or contact us, we may collect:
- Vehicle information: year, make, model, mileage, condition, title status, photos you submit.
- Contact information: name, phone number, email, address, ZIP code.
- Payment information: at pickup, our partner may collect signature confirmation, ID verification, and bank or check details if you choose a non-cash payment.
- Site usage: IP address, device type, browser, pages viewed, time on site, referral source. Collected via standard analytics (Google Analytics, server logs).
How we use it
- To generate your offer and coordinate pickup of your vehicle.
- To follow up by phone, email, or text if you submit but don’t accept (we never auto-enroll you in marketing without consent — opt-out instructions are in every message).
- To process payment and complete title transfer paperwork.
- To improve our offer accuracy and service — aggregated, de-identified data is used to understand pricing trends.
- To comply with legal obligations (state DMV reporting, tax records, anti-theft title-tracking laws).
Who we share with
- Our buyer/tow partners:we share your vehicle details and pickup location with the licensed tow operator and salvage yard handling your car. They’re bound by their own privacy obligations and the contract we have with them.
- Service providers: our database, web hosting, offer-pricing, and email/SMS vendors. They process your data only to deliver our service and are bound by contract to protect it.
- Government agencies: state DMVs, tax authorities, and law enforcement when legally required (subpoenas, anti-theft title-tracking, sales tax reporting).
- We never sell your data to advertisers or marketing list brokers.
Cookies and tracking
We use first-party cookies for session management and standard analytics (page views, conversion tracking). We don’t use cross-site advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser; offer-flow features depend on session cookies, so disabling them may break the form.
Your rights
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion: request deletion of your data (we retain records related to completed transactions per state DMV and tax-record requirements, typically 5-7 years).
- Correction: request that we update inaccurate information.
- Opt-out: unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time via the link in any message we send.
- California residents (CCPA/CPRA):additional rights apply including the right to know what categories of data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal data (we don’t sell).
- European residents (GDPR): the legal basis for processing your data is contract performance (delivering the offer/pickup you requested) and legitimate interest (improving service).
Data retention
Active offer-request data is retained until 90 days after your offer expires (if not accepted). Completed-transaction records are retained 5-7 years to comply with state tax and DMV requirements. Aggregated, de-identified analytics data is retained indefinitely.
Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Our vendors maintain SOC 2 compliance. We restrict access to personal data to staff who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure; if we discover a breach affecting your data, we’ll notify you per applicable law.
Children
We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our site, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the site for at least 30 days.
