High-desert wear and altitude
Albuquerque's elevation (5,300 feet) plus high UV plus chronic dust intrusion ages cars faster than coastal or temperate equivalents. AC compressors, batteries, radiators, and rubber components fail earlier. Paint fades through clear coat by year 6-8, dashboards crack, headlight lenses cloud. Bodies stay clean (minimal humidity, no salt) but interior and electrical wear is high.
Engine wear is also elevated due to thin air. Power loss at altitude wears bearings, accelerates oil-pump failures, and increases coolant-system load. Cars that work fine at sea level often need premature engine work after a few years in ABQ.
Kirtland AFB and Sandia Labs workforce
Kirtland Air Force Base (one of the larger AFBs) plus Sandia National Labs anchor the federal/military workforce in ABQ. Both rotate personnel; cars get sold against move-out dates. Steady supply of well-maintained 3-7 year-old vehicles in our pickup queue.
ABQ also has a notable cross-border component — vehicles moving between NM and TX (El Paso metro) or NM and CO (Front Range) generate multi-state title situations. We handle all three DMVs.
